All of those pitchers have had opportunities over the course of the last two seasons, but none of them has shown the consistency required for a regular rotation spot.

If Samardzija were moved, it would provide more opportunities for at least one of those young starters to separate himself from the pack and establish himself as a long-term option going forward.
