Giants Need No. 5: Center field

Since the Giants decided it wasn’t worth it to bring back Kevin Pillar, it’s worth exploring some low-cost outside alternatives.

Zaidi said the team wants to get a look at younger outfielders, but unless Steven Duggar or Jaylin Davis take a significant step forward in 2020, the center field position will need to be addressed.

Perhaps Keon Broxton or Carlos Gomez could be brought in as a safety net in the same way that the team signed Austin Jackson in 2018.

Neither player had a very impressive 2019 season, but they could at the very least platoon with Duggar if he struggles while also providing a little depth off the bench.

The Giants still have quite a few needs. Luckily, there is still a lot of offseason left to address them, even if they are not planning on making a run at contention in 2020.
