Alex Gordon

Reiter wrote: “Gordon quite easily had his best OPS since his last All-Star season, 2015, and he remains a strong outfielder, if no longer a Gold Glover. Giants left fielders combined to bat .218 this season, with a .672 OPS. They need help.”

This is likely a moot point.

Gordon, 35, has spent his entire 13-year career with the Kansas City Royals, and while his $23 million option is certain to be bought out for $4 million, he’s a lock to be back in a Royals uniform next season at a discounted rate if he wants to keep playing.

If the Giants are going to add an outfielder this offseason, it’s going to be a power bat who can slot into a run production role and occupy a corner spot opposite Mike Yastrzemski.

Gordon hit 13 home runs in 633 plate appearances last season and he hasn’t reached the 20-homer mark since 2013.

This one just doesn’t make much sense.

Verdict: Disagree

As for the San Francisco Giants own free agents, Madison Bumgarner claimed the No. 7 spot and the Atlanta Braves were identified as his best fit, while Will Smith checked in at No. 16 and was linked to the Washington Nationals.
