San Francisco Giants free agency predictions: Agree or disagree?

In a recent list of the top 50 upcoming MLB free agents from Sports Illustrated, the San Francisco Giants were identified as the “best fit” for three players.
The San Francisco Giants figure to be one of the more active teams on this year’s free-agent market, regardless of whether they decide to target any of the top available players.
Last offseason, they were part of the Bryce Harper sweepstakes before he wound up signing with the Philadelphia Phillies. They, in turn, settled for a handful of under-the-radar moves, including re-signing Derek Holland, signing Drew Pomeranz and a wide array of minor league free agent signings that included Stephen Vogt and Donovan Solano.
This time around, there are holes to fill in the starting rotation and in the bullpen, and there’s little doubt the offense could use a boost after struggling throughout the 2019 season to consistently score runs.
As the 2019 season winds to a close with two World Series games already in the books, we’re on the cusp of another busy offseason of hot stove activity.
So what will team president Farhan Zaidi and the rest of the front office do this offseason as the team continues to build back toward contention while also ushering in a younger core?
Ben Reiter of Sports Illustrated recently revealed his rankings of the top 50 upcoming free agents, and along with ranking the players, he also identified a “best fit” for each of them.
The San Francisco Giants were dubbed the best fit for the following players:
- No. 13: SS Didi Gregorius
- No. 15: SP Dallas Keuchel
- No. 48: LF Alex Gordon
