2018 Stats: 34 GS, 9-9, 3.90 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, 43 BB, 203 K, 207.2 IP

While he didn’t quite return to ace form, it was nonetheless a bounce-back season for Madison Bumgarner after injuries limited him to 38 combined starts in 2017 and 2018.

The 30-year-old finished tied for 11th in the majors with 20 quality starts, and he reached the 200-inning mark for the seventh time in his MLB career.

His strikeout rate also climbed back up from 7.6 to 8.8 K/9 as his fastball velocity returned to its previous levels.

Making him a qualifying offer will be a no-brainer, and as one of the top starting pitching options on the market behind Gerrit Cole, he’s a near-lock to reject it in favor of a multi-year deal.

That doesn’t mean the San Francisco Giants won’t try to bring him back to finish his career where it started, but there will be plenty of other teams vying for his services as well.
