San Francisco Giants: Final 2019 Top 30 Prospects (30-21)

29. RHP Melvin Adon
Age: 25
Acquired: IFA (2015)
Future Value: 35+ (grade down)
Stock: -13 spots
Melvin Adon unquestionably has the most overpowering stuff in the system now that Ray Black is in Milwaukee. His fastball has been called a true 80-grade pitch, consistently touching triple digits with movement. His slider has flashed as a plus pitch, but an inability to control his breaking ball allows hitters to sit on the fastball.
As he’s learned since earning a promotion to Triple-A, players in the upper minors can square up elite velocity. With that said, his 13.94 ERA at Triple-A is also a side effect of some bad luck. He has still struck out over 15 batters per nine innings but has dealt with a .517 BABIP.
The right-hander is set to return to Triple-A next season, but he will get a chance to earn a big-league spot next spring. He’s already on the 40-man roster and will likely get plenty of chances to solidify a spot in the San Francisco Giants pen.
