With the All-Star break in the rearview and the second half set to begin, now is the perfect time to highlight five San Francisco Giants players facing an important second half.

With the San Francisco Giants sitting just 5.5 games back of the second NL wild-card spot after a strong finish stretch to close out the first half, the next few weeks will be huge.

Even if they do not make a postseason push this year, they will still need players to step up and prove they can be contributors on this team in the future.

With guys like Madison Bumgarner and Will Smith likely to be playing elsewhere come August, we set out to highlight five players who will not only finish the year in San Francisco but have a chance to play a pivotal role in the ongoing rebuild.

Obviously, the continued development of young players down on the farm will be arguably the biggest factor in the success of the club’s rebuilding efforts, but the focus here was on MLB-ready talent.

Let’s dive right in.
