The San Francisco Giants Need to Stop the Bleeding!

The San Francisco Giants got absolutely embarrassed to start this season. Although it’s not the worst start to their season, it’s certainly not much better than last season’s start. If the Giants are going to be playing like this, their defense and pitching are going to need to be spotless.

They cannot afford to make base running errors as they did, they cannot take close pitches in crucial situations and they definitely cannot afford fielding errors. I’m sure many of us thought the Giants offense wasn’t going to be stellar, but even I couldn’t imagine they would start off this poorly.

The one thing that is benefiting the Giants right now is that they don’t have to face up against Clayton Kershaw or Rich Hill, two of their best starters. However, the pitchers they will be facing will present them with challenges nonetheless.

It’s going to be up to this lineup to step up to the challenge and try to get some offense going and early. In the three games the Giants have scored, they did it after the 4th inning, which is not a good precedent to set if they’re trying to build momentum.

The Giants also need to figure out a consistent starting lineup and stop benching guys just because the matchup doesn’t always work in their favor. They want to get guys going, not break up confidence and rhythm.

I’d be perfectly happy if the Giants found a way to scratch across two wins, but even one win would suffice for me against the reigning division and league champions.
