Lack of Direction

I think the thing that frustrates me the most as a fan is the lack of direction for this ballclub. For two years now we really have no idea what the future of this team will be.

In 2017 it seemed pretty clear that this dynasty had come to an end, and that this nucleus of players could no longer compete at the highest level.

But instead of trading off valuable assets to build for the future, they decided to hang on to the core in place.

Now some of those assets have lost value and that can’t be regained.

And then the front office decided to try and patch things together one more time in 2018. The result is a bunch of bad contracts for aging players.

The San Francisco Giants are now stuck with a lot of the players they have, players who are obviously declining and not able to compete for a playoff spot.

Meanwhile, they have one of the worst farm systems in all of baseball, giving us no hope for the future.

So the biggest disappointment for me in 2018 is the lack of direction from this front office. Hopefully, that gets sorted out this offseason with a new general manager.
