3. Dereck Rodriguez – The biggest surprise of 2018 was the emergence of Dereck Rodriguez. The rookie is having a phenomenal season and will be in the running for Rookie of the Year himself.

Despite being the son of a Hall of Fame catcher, Rodriguez has made a name for himself in the Major Leagues as a pitcher.

His fearlessness and consistency in the strike zone has him pitching as well as the best pitchers in the game since the All-Star break.

Despite Bumgarner being the ace of the staff, Rodriguez has had the better season and his showing potential to be a front line starter for years to come.

With all the frustration of 2018, the fact that four spots on this rankings is starting pitchers who could lead the staff in 2019 is promising.
