Chris Estrada: Nick Hundley’s Walk-Off

When people think of the San Francisco Giants catcher they think of Buster Posey. No need to ever think of another catcher on this team except this year with backup  Nick Hundley. He proved to be invaluable coming through in many clutch situations.

None was bigger than on September 2nd against the St. Louis Cardinals.

This game was like many games of 2017 lack of runs where scored. In the bottom of the ninth Buster Posey knocked in the tying run forcing extra innings. In the bottom of the 10th Hundley sent everyone home happy with a walk-off home run running around the bases pointing his index finger to the sky.

The reason why this is my favorite play of the year is because in a lost year, where not many celebrations occurred, Hundley had one of the biggest. He has played in 100 games this year with 9 home runs and 43 runs batted in. That is something you just do not see in a backup catcher. Hundley had many great hits this year this one is the best because it shows how important he has been to this team.
