San Francisco Giants Sign Jimmy Rollins
The San Francisco Giants have agreed to a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training with shortstop Jimmy Rollins.
According to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports. Jon Heyman of Fan Rag Sports says the deal is for $1 million if he makes it to the major leagues. The San Francisco Giants are set up the middle with All-Stars Brandon Crawford and Joe Panik in the starting lineup.

Last season, Rollins signed with the White Sox and played 41 games before being released in June.
The 38 old infielder will be fighting to win a backup job, competing with Kelby Tomlinson and Ehire Adrianza, among others.

Rollins, a second round pick of the Philadelphia Phillies in the 1996 amateur draft, began his major league career in 2000. The three time All-Star and 2007 MVP played 15 seasons in Philadelphia before being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2015. Over 15 seasons, he slashed .267/.327/.424 for an OPS of .751. However, those numbers dropped significantly with the Dodgers and White Sox.
This signing is a low risk signing for general manager Bobby Evans who likely wants to create competition for the homegrown talent that Rollins will compete with in camp.
