The non-waiver trade deadline is less than two weeks away, and the maneuvering has already begun around the Major Leagues. As a top postseason contender, the San Francisco Giants are expected to be among the most active buyers during the trade season, meaning they will look to add a couple difference makers by Aug. 1.

But their success the rest of the season won’t only be affected by their moves; with only one other buyer—the Los Angeles Dodgers—and three definite sellers in the National League West, the division could look a lot different different in a couple weeks. If and when the roster makeovers happen, that could change the level of competition the Giants will have to face. But could that make things more difficult for San Francisco, or will the pursuit of the NL West title become easier?
