Home Run King: Brandon Belt

Hunter Pence swings the bat hard every time he comes up, but his balls are more accidents when they go out. His line drive approach is why his balls go so far when they do get hit off the sweet spot. Belt has a natural upper-cut to his swing and that leads to more loft coming off of the bat. Had injuries not gotten in the way the last couple of seasons, Belt could have competed for the league home run title a few times.

This is the year he puts it all together, and if the Giants were smart they would get that extension done soon. Belt is ready to break out and show that the spring isn’t the only time that he can see the ball well consistently. After finishing third on the team behind Brandon Crawford‘s 21 and Posey’s 19 (he had 18), this year will feature a more determined Belt at the plate. My prediction: 32 home runs, placing 7th in the National League and nine home runs ahead of second place on the team Buster Posey‘s 23.
