Yusmeiro Petit and Alejandro De Aza

Petit was a valuable asset for the Giants who became expendable with the emergence of Chris Heston. A great swing man, Petit will fill the same role with the Washington Nationals. His ability to provide innings out of the bullpen makes it hard to crack the rotation since an effective sixth starter is harder to find. He has started one game in the spring, while appearing in 6 games total with a 4.97 ERA.

De Aza was a late season pickup last season who was there to provide speed and outfield depth. The chances of a return to the team diminished as the team faded in the standings. A player like him, and Gorkys Hernandez are luxuries on many teams, and after signing with the New York Mets, he has become a luxury there too. He is likely going to be a part-time outfielder for the time being after the Mets brought Yoenis Cespedes back. In 43 at bats he is hitting .372 this spring.
