Answer: B – Willie McCovey

Willie McCovey hit 13 home runs while winning the Rookie of the Year award in 1959. He then went on to hit many more in the 60’s and 70’s, hitting his last one in Montreal on May 3rd 1980.

The memories of McCovey as a four-year-old were of shouting out his name, being angry that a guy named Rich Murray was playing first base instead of the icon my dad idolized, and being able to walk down and get a ball hit during batting practice by just walking over to the empty section and picking it up.
