There have been several former professional baseball players who have gone on to become famous in other areas. Some used their experiences in the game to tell stories later on.

There are others that played minor league ball in addition to the names on this list. Michael Jordan played in the middle of his retirement from basketball. Others like Garth Brooks and Billy Crystal played for teams during spring training.

Danny Ainge was an All-American in Baseball, Basketball, and baseball coming out of BYU and made it all the way to the big leagues after being drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 15th round in 1977. The infielder was playing in Toronto by 1979, and hit .220 in 211 games over the next three years before taking his talents to the hardwood. The Boston Celtics are happy with his decision, as he contributed to titles in 1984 and 1986.

The ones on this list played for the opportunity to have a career in the major leagues, but never were lucky enough to make it. Luckily for us, they took their talents to new heights in other ways.
