2009 MLB Draft

While San Francisco may have made a smart choice with Zack Wheeler at number-six overall, they eventually traded him away to the New York Mets in 2011 in exchange for All Star Carlos Beltran in the attempt to save their playoff hopes.

Without a doubt, San Francisco had another solid draft by drafting Brandon Belt and Chris Heston, but there were guys like Dallas Keuchel and Paul Goldschmidt (again) that they probably should have chosen instead of Tommy Joseph and Jason Stoffel.

Players Passed On:

3B Nolan Arenado (2nd Round–59th)

3B Kyle Seager (3rd Round–82nd)

Of Wil Myers (3rd Round–91st)

LHP Dallas Keuchel (7th Round–221st)

1B Paul Goldschmidt (8th Round–246th)

3B Matt Carpenter (13th Round–399th)

*C Andrew Susac (16th Round–497th)

OF J.D. Martinez (20th Round–611th)

RHP Trevor Rosenthal (21st Round–639th)
