2015 MLB Draft

With the number-one overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, the Arizona Diamondbacks selected shortstop Dansby Swanson out of the University of Vanderbilt. Swanson is described as a stellar defensive infielder who can play multiple infield positions. Swanson is used to the spotlight as his Commodores have been in the College World Series every year he has been their.

The Giants decided to take Phil Bickford out of CSU Fullerton with 18th overall pick. After being drafted 10th overall just two years before, Bickford went down in stock just a touch, but his electric fastball is still very promising. Bickford put up a 2.01 ERA in his 22 innings pitched with the Arizona League in 2015.

Notable picks from the draft:

SS Dansby Swanson (1st Round–1st)

LHP Brady Aiken (1st Round–17th)

RHP Phil Bickford (1st Round-18th)

1B Chris Shaw (1st Round supplemental–31st)
