San Francisco Giants: Are you the FanSided Fan of the Year?

We at Around the Foghorn and FanSided know there are plenty of passionate fans out there with stories and we want to hear them. Maybe your old man has gone to every home game for 40 years, rain or shine, win or lose. Maybe your best friend gets a tattoo every year declaring the San Francisco Giants World Series champions and he is running out of room.

  • Whatever the case, now is the chance to be rewarded for these questionable decisions. Since 1954 our friends at Sports Illustrated have awarded the Sportsman of the Year award to “the athlete or team whose performance that year most embodies the spirit of sportsmanship and achievement.” Giants fans may be familiar with this award as our own Madison Bumgarner received this honor just last year. That gave us an idea. We decided it was finally time to recognize the nameless faces watching from the bleachers. Thus, we’re excited to present the inaugural FanSided Fan of the Year contest.

Whether you are a season ticket holder, a fan who waves the Giants flag every inning, or the fan who freezes his butt off by only wearing an orange body suit, we all know San Francisco has the best fans in the world. Every fan has a story. We want to hear yours.

Now is the chance to show the world that Giants fans truly are the best in sports. Don’t let Dodgers fans get in the way of what is ours.

Here’s how to enter: Send us a two-minute video or a 200-word essay to telling us your story and explaining why you should be named FanSided Fan of the Year. We’ll review all submissions and narrow down the field to five finalists. Each finalist will receive a one-year subscription to Sports Illustrated and will be interviewed and profiled on The grand prize winner will be featured in Sports Illustrated magazine!
