Cy Young Award

#40 Madison Bumgarner LHP

Throughout all of the injured and questions among the pitching staff this season, the one consistency was Madison Bumgarner. With guys like Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, and Jake Arrieta having terrific years, it is near impossible for Bumgarner to have a chance at the MLB Cy Young Award.

With that being said, cowboy Bum was undoubtedly the Giants best pitcher and one of the tops in the league. In his 32 starts, Bumgarner eighth in innings pitched, tied for sixth in wins, and seventh in strikeouts in the MLB this year. Although this may not have helped his chances of winning the best “pitcher” award, Bumgarner also led all MLB pitchers in almost every category: hits, home runs, RBIs, slugging percentage, among others.

After pitching over 52 innings last year in the 2014 MLB Playoffs, perhaps not making the playoffs this year was a blessing in disguise for Bumgarner.
