5. Trade for Josh Reddick of the Oakland A’s
The 28-year old Reddick has had an up-and-down career as one season he will tear the cover off the ball and the next he finds himself on the DL and on the verge of being released. One element that has stayed true throughout the struggles has been his defense in the outfield, in which his strong arm and quick first step led him to a Gold Glove in 2012. Reddick has overcome a poor past 2 years by solidifying right field for the A’s and providing pop in the middle of their order.
The Georgia-native currently has a batting average of .272 with 20 home runs and 75 RBIs, his most since 2012. Reddick is another fun guy in the clubhouse who likes to add to team camaraderie. Although times have been tough, he has shown determination by adjusting his long swing to a slightly more compact and quick swing that has allowed to him to for a higher average.
Reddick’s contract expires after the 2016 season and the last place Athletics will look trade their upcoming free agents as they rarely can afford them. The Gold Glove outfielder would be forced to play left field, but that should be no problem for him after comfortably playing each outfield position back in 2011 with the Boston Red Sox.
