Looking ahead to the 2015-16 San Francisco Giants free agents

OF Marlon Byrd
The Byrd has been the word ever since San Francisco traded for him in late August, but the 38-year-old’s two year contract ends after this season. Since coming to the Bay, Byrd has slashed .314/.355/.523 while adding 3 home runs and an incredible 23 RBIs in just 22 games.
Should San Francisco retain Byrd? Yes.
However, Byrd obviously does not have too many years left in him as Father Time is constantly ticking, but Byrd is an ideal fourth or fifth outfielder for a contending team. If San Francisco can sway him back with a modest 1 year/$5 million contract, they will solidify their outfield depth with Gregor Blanco also signed through next year. Although he may cost a few million more, Byrd is a much better option than Justin Maxwell.
