Update: Thursday, Sept. 10
Panik aggravated his back injury in Wednesday game against the Diamondbacks. A potential return is uncertain, according to CSN Bay Area’s Alex Pavlovic.
—End of Update—
Panik has been brilliant since his long-awaited return from a back injury, doubling in a pinch-hit appearance Monday before going 2-for-3 with a homer on Tuesday.
It’s a shame that all his hard work to get back on the field won’t contribute to a postseason berth, but it will be good for the second baseman to get back in a groove leading into the offseason.
Panik may get an off day here and there just to err on the safe side, but his name should be penciled into the No. 2 hole for most games moving forward.
