The 13-year veteran Gomes still has a lot to give in the right role. According to Jeff Todd of MLB Trade Rumors, Gomes has cleared waivers and is eligible to be traded to any team. Gomes is slashing .209/.318/.330 with 5 home runs in 214 plate appearances.
As I mentioned in an earlier article, Gomes is known to be a good clubhouse guy, and he has been through his share of trades. Nonetheless, Gomes will have no problem fitting in with the San Francisco chemistry and should be used to switching teams during mid-season.
Gomes’ one-year, $4 million contract expires at the end of the season.
