Marlon Byrd (Reds LF)
I’ve been saying it since July, I said it just last week, and I’ll say it again: Byrd checks all of the boxes for San Francisco.
He’s a veteran (14 years in MLB), he’s got power (19 HR this year) and he’s on an affordable expiring deal (less than $2 million remaining).
Yes, a .241 average while playing half his games at a hitter-friendly park is a little worrisome, and the man sure can whiff (97 SO in 353 ABs). Even so, Byrd would represent a significant upgrade over anyone else the Giants can trot out.
Next: Onto Matt Kemp
