Nori Aoki (concussion)
While the Giants probably should have put Nori Aoki on the concussion DL to begin with after he was beaned in Chicago, the left fielder should be ready to rejoin the team in short order.
In other words, Aoki can be plugged into the lineup as early as Thursday when the Giants face off against the Pirates.
Justin Maxwell is obviously an upgrade over Nori in left, but the offense-for-defense tradeoff here can’t be overstated. With a red-hot Gregor Blanco likely to hold onto the leadoff spot in the order, it will be interested to see where Bochy slots Aoki. I’d put my money on the bottom of the order to start, with the potential to move up to No. 1-2 once he’s reacclimated to game speed.
