—End of Update—

Goodbye Hector Sanchez, hellooooo Andrew Susac.

Roughly one month after injuring his thumb on a head-first slide, the Giants’ promising young catcher will be making his return to the starting lineup on Monday in place of Buster Posey.

His call-up couldn’t have come at a better time, as Posey has received just one day off the entire month. Bruce Bochy was understandably reluctant to pull Posey out of the lineup with respect to other injuries and Sanchez’s struggles, but Susac’s presence should allow for more time at first base for the MVP candidate.

Susac had cooled down considerably before hitting the DL (.143 average in July vs. .342 average in June), but looked good in his minor-league rehab starts, going 6-for-22 with two home runs and four RBI.
