Injury prone? Yes. Past his prime? Indeed. Cringeworthy regular-season stats? You better believe it.

Why, you ask, would the Giants want to bring in a guy who sounds eerily similar to Pagan?

Well, Crisp still has wheels, and his defense has looked great in left since coming back from a serious neck injury. His slash line (.139/.190/.434) has been brutal to date, but that’s largely due to a stretch earlier this season when Crisp was playing hurt. A four-hit night on Friday could be the signal of a late-season turnaround for the 35-year-old outfielder.

With all of his red flags, Crisp is all but certain to pass through waivers, making him a viable target for the Giants to trade for without giving up a top prospect.
