Panik took batting practice on Thursday and fielded ground balls on Wednesday. The second baseman’s return is imminent.

It looks like the Giants will be without Panik for longer than the minimum 15 days, as Alex Pavlovic of CSN Bay Area reports that baseball-related activities are still a ways away for the second baseman.

Giants nation let out a collective sigh of relief on Wednesday when the results of Panik’s MRI were revealed:

With that in mind, it looks as though San Francisco will move forward with Ehire Adrianza and Kelby Tomlinson until Panik is ready to go. Joaquin Arias, who cleared waivers and was assigned to Triple-A Sacramento yesterday, could also get a look if either of the 25-year-olds struggle. 

Fingers crossed that a little R&R is all Panik’s back needs.
