#5. OF Marlon Byrd

As the Reds spent their time trading LHP Johnny Cueto to the Royals and shopping LHP Aroldis Chapman and outfielder Jay Bruce, Marlon Byrd was left stranded. The 37-year-old Byrd is now in the last year of his 2-year contract that he signed with the Phillies back in 2014. Now on Cincinnati, Byrd has had another productive year as he is hitting just .252 but has 18 homeruns and 38 RBIs.

  • Without a doubt, Byrd’s power numbers might decrease in pitcher-friendly AT&T Park, but he plays solid defense and has postseason experience. Byrd as an option for San Francisco has floated around, but nothing too serious.

The Giants need more depth and talent on the bench, and Byrd could give them just that.
