#6. LHP Oliver Perez

The next man on our list is LHP Oliver Perez of the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Dbacks have had an unusual mid-season as they are not playoff contenders, yet they made an offer for LHP Aroldis Chapman of the Reds, one that Cincinnati would decline, and did not complete any trades at the deadline.

The 13-year old veteran Perez has seen his share of trades throughout his career as he has played for 5 different teams. As a result, Perez knows the business and would be comfortable switching teams in the middle of the year. This season, Perez has a 3.38 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings pitched.

In the least, Perez could take the place of a struggling and hurting Jeremy Affeldt as he has a team high 5.84 ERA and has spent a large part of the season on the DL. Perez is a bit younger than Affeldt, 3 years to be exact, and he seems to simply be in better shape than Affeldt. Although Perez would not be a blockbuster deal, he could be just as effective as Affeldt has been in the playoffs and the Giants needed each and every bit of Affeldt in those postseason runs.
