San Francisco Giants rumors: Top trade deadline targets after missing out on David Price and Cole Hamels

Update: The Astros acquired Gomez on Friday.
Leading things off is Carlos Gomez, a man (or is kid more fitting?) who in my opinion represents the biggest fish that the Giants could feasibly reel in now that Price and Hamels are out of the picture. The reports on a hip problem nixing a trade to the Mets turned out to be false, and the money—around $12 million for the next season-and-a-third—is right. Gomez’s numbers (.262/.328/.423, 8 HR, 7 SB) are down this year, though, and the aforementioned clubhouse concerns might warrant a stern pass from the team’s brain trust.
Cameron Maybin is another center fielder that could take the Giants’ lineup to the next level, but it appears the Braves’ asking price is too high. There was a rumor that a Maybin-for-Angel Pagan deal was floated in the past, but the value for these two players have gone in opposite directions this season. Unlike Gomez, Maybin would not represent a defensive upgrade.
