Perhaps the most underrated of the mid season trades was when San Francisco gave the Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder/first baseman John Bowker and right-hander Joe Martinez in exchange for left-handed specialist Javier Lopez. Lopez would be an X-factor for San Francisco in their 2010 World Series run by handling the power bats of Ryan Howard in the NLCS and Josh Hamilton in the Fall Classic. Javy has now been with the Giants for all three of their World Series runs, and boasts a 1.71 ERA this season.
