Other news: Brett Bochy outrighted to Sacramento, Travis Ishikawa back to Pittsburgh

On the same day Osich got the call, Brett Bochy (aka the skipper’s son) was moved off the 40-man roster to make room.

It was an easy decision for the Giants brass from a production standpoint—above-four ERA with a poor strikeout rate—but obviously a difficult one given his bloodline. On the plus side, Boch Jr. was outrighted back to the Rivercats and has the rest of the season to try and get right.

The same can’t be said for Travis Ishikawa, as the Giants utility man-turned-postseason savior has packed his bags for Pittsburgh after being designated for assignment. With an ailing outfield corps and Brandon Belt able to man left field, there simply wasn’t a place for Ishi any longer. He only had six at-bats with San Francisco this season, but should be seeing a lot more with the Pirates moving forward.
