Gerardo Parra

Buster Olney reported this possible match on Sunday, and I could actually see the Giants pulling the trigger on this deal if the cellar-dwelling Brewers are willing to do business. Simply put, Parra fills all of the Giants needs—and then some.

Defensive prowess? Check. And he has two gold gloves to show for it.

Positional flexibility? Check. Parra’s most comfortable in the corners, but he’s spent plenty of time in center too.

Better at the plate than Blanco and Maxwell? Check. He’s a career .277 hitter with decent pop and speed, and has been red-hot of late, raising his average to .308 with five-straight multi-hit efforts.

Icing on the cake: He’s on the last year of a contract that pays him just over $6 million.

All of this makes Parra an attractive option for several teams, so don’t get your hopes up just yet. Milwaukee could use another starting pitcher, though, and the Giants clearly have a surplus of those.
