Bruce Bochy reneges on starting Casey McGehee
Boch said McGehee would get a start this weekend after being called up on Friday, but he ended up sticking with Matt Duffy after the kid had two multi-hit games. Hard to fault the skipper given the results, which he likened to soup, because why not?
On not giving McGehee a start, Bochy said it's hard to take Duffy out. When you're winning games "I like to go w/the same soup". #SFGiants

McGehee probably isn’t too happy with being called up just to sit, but I’m sure he’ll get a start coming up here against the Mets.
Pablo Sandoval feeling the heat in Beantown
As poor as McGehee has played, the man he replaced hasn’t been much better:
Pablo Sandoval: -0.3 WAR
— Steve Berman (@BASportsGuy) June 7, 2015
Casey McGehee: -0.8 WAR
Matt Duffy: 0.7 WAR
Sandoval has been struggling mightily over the past month, so much so that he received two straight days off before returning to the Red Sox lineup on Sunday.
This article from CBS Sports does a great job using advanced stats to explain his regression, both at the plate and in the field. Weight isn’t mentioned, but it’s clear just from looking at him that the Panda’s letting his eating habits get the better of him again.
Eddy Julio Martinez breaks silence…sort of
Not much to report here other than the Giants remaining one of the many teams in the running for now-No. 1 international prospect Eddy Julio Martinez, per MLB Trade Rumors.
I did finally spot some quotes from EJM himself, but they didn’t reveal much of anything other than the fact that the Cuban outfielder is “working hard” to reach the bigs.
Thanks, Eddy…you and thousands of others. Here’s more on him from my last rumor roundup in case you missed it.
