The bad news: According to Andrew Baggarly, Pence has tendinitis in his left wrist, stemming from this play against the Pirates on Monday:
Though he gritted through Tuesday’s contest—and recorded three hits, to boot—it might have been wiser to sit that one out. Per Baggarly, Pence said the pain became “exponentially worse” as the game wore on. Obviously, the discomfort is still lingering, as the right fielder is slated to miss the entire series in Philadelphia.
Pence won't play this series. Will swing tomorrow with expectation of starting Tuesday in New York. #sfgiants

The good news: See above.
A few days out is no big deal, particularly against an outgunned Phillies team, but you have to hope the Giants aren’t rushing him back or (and this is more likely) that Pence himself is forcing the issue given his competitive nature. Justin Maxwell has been starving for at-bats, so sitting the Reverend out until he’s 100 percent is definitely the right move here.
