Tyler Beede Q&A: Interview with San Francisco Giants’ top prospect on the heels of his minor-league promotion

Top San Francisco Giants pitching prospect and 2014 first-round draft pick Tyler Beede was recently promoted to Double-A Richmond, Virginia.

Beede was having a very good season for the Class-A San Jose Giants prior to the move, going 2-2 with a 2.24 ERA and 1.15 WHIP in nine games started. The 22-year-old right-hander is currently rated the No. 2 prospect in the Giants’ organization, according to Baseball America, trailing only Andrew Susac—a player already up with the big-league ball club.

Drafted out of Vanderbilt University, Beede had the chance to join the Toronto Blue Jays out of high school, but elected to go to college instead. In this Around the Foghorn exclusive interview, he explains why he turned down his first-round selection by the Jays and discusses what he could bring to the table for the Giants:
