Giants in the minors: SF signs Frandsen, Beltre, Kobernus, loses Correia, keeps Ishikawa, Cordier and McGehee (for now)

Ishikawa and Cordier clear waivers
Somewhat surprisingly, and fortunately for the Giants, both Travis Ishikawa and Erik Cordier cleared waivers and will remain with the organization—for now.
Ishikawa has yet to play for Sacramento since the end of his rehab stint on May 23, but he should return to action in short order. Before his DFA waiting period, Ishi was batting above .300 for the ’Cats but struck out 18 times in 58 at-bats. Even so, he’s probably the first choice for a call-up if any Giants players go down with an injury.
As for Cordier, the flamethrowing right-hander had his contract restructured to include opt-out dates throughout the season should he seek big-league opportunities elsewhere, per Baggarly. For now, it’s back to Sac, where he had a 2.00 ERA and 13 strikeouts in nine innings pitched.
