Madison Bumgarner

Bumgarner hasn’t been mind-blowing this season, but perhaps that’s due to the untouchable standards he established for himself in last year’s postseason.

There are currently seven NL pitchers with an ERA under 2.50, and Bumgarner isn’t one of them. That being said, he’s been rock solid for the Giants this season, and his consistent play was particularly reassuring when the offense seemed hopeless in April.

With Bochy getting the final say on pitchers in Cincinnati, it seems inevitable that Bumgarner will come along for the ride, even if he doesn’t end up playing. He’s looked intimidating at times this season, and while Bum doesn’t seem primed to a make a run at the Cy Young award this year, he could certainly pick up a few more elite pitching accolades as we progress through the summer.
