The SF Giants announced their Spring Training schedule yesterday, just in time to cure your baseball blues.
Opening Day for the Giants will be on March 3, 2015 against the Oakland Athletics at the A’s stadium in Mesa. Their first home game will be the following day at Scottsdale Stadium, also against the A’s.
If you’ve been to spring training, you know most games take place during the day, typically with a 1:05 pm start.
However, there are a couple of evening games on the books this spring. According to Carrie Muskat of MLB.com,
"There are two night games on the Giants’ home schedule, including March 20 against the Reds and March 26 against the Athletics. A late afternoon contest against the D-backs on March 15 will start at 3:05 p.m. MT."
If you’ve never been to Spring Training, it’s a must-do for any baseball fan. The Phoenix area in March has wonderful temperatures and a good nightlife. Eat a good hearty breakfast, head to the ballpark, back to your hotel for an afternoon nap, and get ready for dinner. Repeat.
It’s a fantastic opportunity to see the prospects first-hand, get some good autographs, and lounge in the sun drinking a tall glass of lemonade.
