Pre-Game & Lineups: San Francisco Giants Look To Win Another Home Series

By Eric Nathanson

The Giants and Braves wrap up their 3-game series at AT&T Park this afternoon with first pitch slated for 12:45 PT. Today it’s RHP Julio Teheran (2-2, 1.71 ERA) against LHP Madison Bumgarner (4-3, 2.83 ERA). This is the last game between these two teams in 2014 unless they meet again in the postseason.

The Giants are 25-15, currently atop the NL West with a 2.5 game lead over the Rockies. The Giants 25 wins are tied with Milwaukee and Detroit for the most in baseball.

The lineups for today’s matinée.

Gregor Blanco gets the start in center field today. Bruce Bochy has been doing all he can to keep Angel Pagan‘s legs fresh. Michael Morse is back at his “usual” spot of first base and Tyler Colvin gets his second start of the season in left field.

Madison Bumgarner has pitched well in his last 2 starts. He totaled 14 innings while allowing just one earned run and striking out 17. The Giants are 5-3 in Bumgarner starts this season. He’s also been good against Atlanta lately.

Julio Teheran has had a quality start in each of his 8 starts for the Braves this season. Against the Giants on May 3rd Teheran took the loss after giving up 3 solo home runs.

The Giants best hitter against Julio Teheran? Buster Posey. He just loves facing the Braves and is hitting .667 (6 for 9) against Teheran.

The Giants have gone 11-6 at home and won 9 of their last 12 games on the shores of McCovey Cove. The Giants are also 11-4 in day games this season. That’s the best record of any team in baseball when the sun is out.
