Ryan Vogelsong pitched his best game so far this year. He was locating pitches well and was perfect for the first three innings of the game. In the bottom of the fifth inning Vogelsong allowed a lead off hit to Matt Kemp. This was followed by Vogelsong’s only mistake of walking Carl Crawford with no one out. Juan Uribe hit a fly ball to right field that allowed Kemp to move to third. He threw a first pitch fastball to Drew Butera that was caught by Angel Pagan and this scored Kemp.

The Giants had their chances but, could not produce a two out hit. In the top of the 1st Josh Beckett retired the first two Giants hitters but, walked Buster Posey and Michael Morse. Brandon Belt strikes out swinging. In the top of the fourth Pablo Sandoval hit a one out double but, Brandon Crawford and Brandon Hicks could not get him home. In the top of the fifth, Ryan Vogelsong led off the inning with a leadoff double. Angel Pagan hit a ball to the right side, that should have sent Vogelsong to third but he froze and stayed at second. Hunter Pence and Buster Posey grounded out softly to end the inning.

Brandon Hicks was able to end the shutout with a home run hit to left field in the top of the 7th. The Giants got their second run after Los Angeles Dodger pitcher Jamie Wright loaded the bases with 1 out. Hector Sanchez hit a sacrifice fly to right and Brandon Belt followed with a single up the middle to score the second run in the 10th inning. Imagine that a two out hit in the 10th.

Sergio Romo closed the game with a 1, HBP, 3, 4 inning.

1st Star of the game: Ryan Vogelsong

Also, we learned that Duane Kuiper does not like the loud music at Dodger Stadium.
