After a brief stop to play an American League team, the Giants are back inside the division as they host the Padres in a 3 game series starting tonight at AT&T Park. It’s RHP Tyson Ross (2-2, 3.16 ERA) against LHP Madison Bumgarner (2-2, 3.14 ERA). First pitch is 7:15 PT.
The Giants are coming off a sweep of the Cleveland Indians. Overall they have won 4 straight games for the first time since the opening week of the season. The Giants are 8-4 on the shores of McCovey Cove in 2014. This is the first of San Diego’s three trips up North this season.
The lineups for tonight’s game.
The Giants are sticking with the same lineup as the Cleveland series. The day off for Brandon Belt is not today. He’s in good hands.
Tyson Ross only allowed 4 hits to the Giants over 8 scoreless innings earlier this month in San Diego. In his last start at Milwaukee, Ross allowed 5 runs in 6 innings. Perhaps one of the reasons Belt is in the lineup is that he’s 4 for 9 with 2 doubles against Ross.
Madison Bumgarner is coming off back-to-back 2-1 losses. In his last 12.1 innings the Giants have only managed 1 run of support. His last outing was a complete game (8 innings) in Colorado and his best. Bumgarner allowed only the 2 runs while scattering 9 hits and striking out 6. This is his first start against the Padres in 2014.
