Today, San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey turns 27 years old, let me repeat that 27 years old. It may be hard to believe that someone who has accomplished so much in a short time in Major League Baseball can only be 27 years old. Gerald as he was named back in 1987, in Leesburg Georgia where he was born. Buster is entering his fifth year in the Majors, and has already has a pretty impressive resume for someone only being around since 2010. Lets look at some of those accomplishments from Posey
2010 Rookie of the Year and World Series Champion
2012 National League Most Valuable Player and World Series Champion
2012 Hank Aaron Award Winner ( given annually to the players selected as the top hitter in each league, as voted on by baseball fans and members of the media)
2012 Silver Slugger Award Winner (Top offensive player at his position)
2012 National League Batting Champion (.336)
2012 National League Comeback Player of the Year (missed most of the 2011 season due to a horrific collision at home plate)
2 time National League All-Star (2012 and 2013)
In 2008, while playing college baseball with the Florida State Seminoles, Posey was the winner of the Golden Spikes Award (given to the best amateur baseball player in the United States)
Here are videos of Posey’s most memorable moments in the game
First Career Home Run
Buster Posey’s 1st career HR (6/8/10)
by 22gigantesFirst Career Stolen Base, called safe but replays show he was really out.
Who could ever forget this grand slam in Game 5 of the 2012 NLDS, of course we can’t forget “The Reaction” by Reds catcher Ryan Hanigan as well
Home Run to put the Giants ahead of Game 4 of the 2012 World Series
The inspiration to all of the “Ain’t Havin It” tweets all San Francisco Giants fans whenever Posey catching a would be base stealer
Posey is also a pretty good actor, having starred in a few commercials as well
So once again, a very Happy Birthday to Buster Posey from all of us here at Around the Foghorn, and a big Buster Hug from all Giants fans all over the world
