The Giants passed on Vogelsong’s 6.5 million dollar option at the end of the season which made him a free agent. He made three million in 2012 and five million in 2013. His 2014 contract is rumored to be around six to eight million including incentives.
Vogelsong in 2013 was 4-6 with a 5.73 ERA. He is 41-44 with a 4.52 ERA in his nine-year career. His velocity has dropped from 2011-2013 as seen in the chart below, courtesy of Fangraphs. We’re hoping with some rest this offseason he can return to form in 2014.
