Good Morning ATF-ers. Hrm, I might have to re-think calling you guys that. Anyway, here’s what you may have missed last night/this morning.
Oh, Pete Kozma.
Tim Lincecum’s Contract a Mistake for Giants? – via Rant Sports
"The Giants have the young pitching where it isn’t necessary to keep Lincecum in the starting rotation, especially with his ineffectiveness of late. Matt Cain is their obvious ace and Madison Bumgarner is coming on as a young ace. The Giants are also pretty loaded in their farm system with young arms like Kyle Crick, Chris Stratton, and Clayton Blackburn that when ready will be in the rotation for years to come."
Yeah, for what it’s worth, I completely disagree with that statement. Those farm guys won’t be ready for another year or so, and I’d argue Bumgarner is the obvious ace of the staff. Two years until the farm is ready? I’d say worth it since there are lack of better, more affordable options.
Don Mattingly will be back as Dodgers skipper – via LA Times
I’m thinking that could be a good thing for the Giants.
"I just exchanged texts with @busterposey. Here is what he had to say about Lincecum’s return: “I’m excited to hear that Timmy will be back in a Giants uniform next year. He is a great teammate and has been a big part of what we have accomplished the past few years. Most importantly he has the ability to help us get back to where we want to be next year.” #sfgiants"
