Giants Lose a Close One: Padres 9, Giants 3

By Alex Pettitt

This may or may not be the final score but, I don’t particularly want to watch Mike Kickham give up 3-10 more runs. Will I torture myself and watch it anyway yes but, do I want to write about it no.

What went right?

Sep 24, 2013; San Francisco, CA, USA; San Francisco Giants right fielder Hunter Pence (8) avoids the wild pitch as a runner advances against the Los Angeles Dodgers during the ninth inning at AT

So, the question of the day, what does one do when you sign a $90 million contract, you hit a a two run bomb to put your team ahead 3-1. That was the bright spot of the day, Hunter Pence hit another home run and Pablo Sandoval got a two out RBI base hit in the first.

The other bright spot of the game was Heath Hembree who pitched a 1-2-3 inning and got out unscathed in the eighth.

The other bright spot of the day, is that my wife and I were able to purchase relatively cheap tickets for tomorrows game. We plan on winning the Toyota Corolla (yeah right!)

What went wrong?

Yusimero Petit couldn’t get out of the fourth. Whether or not he should have walked Tommy Medica after he threw 15 pitches was debated on TV but he didn’t and that ultimately became the undoing of Petit. Fortunately, George Kontos was able to stop the bleeding and get out of the fourth.
