Lineup for the SJ Giants on 9/14/13 vs. Inland Empire 66ers

The SJ Giants were swept 3-1 by the Inland Empire 66ers in the California League Championships.  The Giants started the series in the Inland Empire on Thursday where they lost 4-0 with Ty Blach starting.  They lost last night 9-1 with Kyle Crick starting. Tonight was another unfortunate loss with Adalberto Mejia starting for the Giants.

Adalberto Mejia pitching in the 1st inning for the SJ Giants on 9/15/13

Mejia pitched a great game while Jose Casilla and Derek Law both had solid outings.  But the 66ers played small ball to score their runs and ultimately outsmarted the Giants. Casilla replaced Mejia in the top of the seventh inning and Law replaced Casilla in the top of the ninth.

The SJ Giants finished the 2013 season with the best record in the league and the North Division champs. The Giants have won four California League championships over the last eight seasons claiming titles in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2010.

The 66ers are the Class A affiliate of the Angels. The Salt Lake Bees are the AAA affiliate of the Angels were also in the playoffs against the Omaha Storm Chasers (AAA affiliate of the Kansas City Royals). The Storm Chasers swept the Bees tonight in the AAA PCL Championship.
